Donating/Recycling Old Textbooks?

Donate Unneeded Books

For small quantities of books: Donations can be made in person during our business hours or shipped to our warehouse in Mississauga. If visiting us, please bring your donations in boxes to our rear receiving doors and ring the bell.

For larger quantities, such as 10 or more boxes: Please contact us in advance at books@csbe.net to make delivery and timing arrangements. While CSBE doesn't pay for shipping of donations, we can arrange discounted shipping through our shipping agents on your behalf.

What happens to your donated books?
  • Books that are still on Canadian curriculum will be repaired and resold to schools across the country at significant savings to the school system. A small amount of the remainder are physically donated within Canada or overseas as needs and partners arise.
  • CSBE will recycle the remaining books and will donate the recycling proceeds to reputable charitable organizations. CSBE selects recipient organizations who most effectively contribute to environmental sustainability and/or literacy and learning in Canada and abroad. CSBE is currently supporting The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) with this program. NCC protects areas of natural diversity for their intrinsic value and for the benefit of our children and those after them.
You may donate any textbooks, library books, paperbacks, encyclopedias and magazines.

We do not accept CD's, Cassette Tapes or other Non-Paper Media for our donation program.
